We have had a great week! Learners have been working on creating a drawing of our solar system! They have also been reading about our local government!
This week learners completed an activity where they had to work together to complete a task. We have been talking about why it is important to be a good communicator!
We have continued talking about fiction story elements. Today, learners read stories and identified the setting, characters, problem and solution, beginning, middle, and end.
We have also continued working on estimating to find the sum! We finished our week off with our very first mystery reader and we got to preview the book fair!!
Today learners worked on changing singular words to plural to practice our spelling rule! We also read, One Grain of Rice. We discussed how the main character was a thinker and came up with a great plan. Learners completed a quick write after reading the story! We started talking about fiction story elements and how fiction stories are very different from non-fiction books!
Today was Constitution Day! To celebrate we discussed what our constitution is and what some of the parts are! We played the game, Do I have the Right? in order to identify what rights we have as citizens.
We have also started talking about our local government and what makes up our local government. Learners were able to explore the different offices at city hall and describe the jobs of each department.
We are also continuing to work on cursive and Istation. Learners were able to read through our first Time for Kids as well!
We have continued working on place value and have started working on rounding numbers to estimate!!
We have started our second spelling sort and have continued identifying non fiction text features!
Learners have discovered the order of the planets from the sun and have learned all about our planets! Today learners looked at pictures of different systems and wrote down "I Wonders".
We started out our day talking about non-fiction text features. Learners worked in partners to find text features in non-fiction books! We also worked on learning the cursive lower case g! Along with non-fiction text features and cursive, we discussed the difference between common and proper nouns! Ask your child what the difference is!
We continued working on place value today! We built our place value street and reviewed the Unit's house and Thousands' house. Learners practiced writing numbers in different forms and identifying the value of each digit.
In library today, Mrs. Freyou talked about the Bluebonnet reading program! Today was a great day!
Today we started sorting and working with our spelling words! Learners also continued working in their cursive handwriting books! Everyone was excited to start learning cursive!! Today was also our very first day to check books out in the library!
Yesterday we celebrated Blake's birthday! Looking forward to a great rest of the week!
