This week we have continued talking about ways to express ourselves in our unit, How We Express Ourselves. Today, learners went on a gallery walk and looked at different art and made observations. We discussed that we each have a different perspective while looking at art.
This week learners have been practicing reading to someone, reading to themselves, and they started writing in their "Free Write" journal.
Learners have also been working hard to transform their circle map about themselves into a paragraph about them!
Today we discussed four different ways to represent a number and learners created a foldable to glue in their math journal.
It's been a great start to our 2nd week of 2nd grade!
Today more learners got to share their "All About Me" bags! Learners also created their "Not a Box." We are learning all about how to express our creativity, so learners were able to use their creativity to create something from a cardboard box! They come up with such creative ideas!

The last few days in 2B have been busy! Learners have been doing a great job reading independently. Today, learners chose books for their book box!
Today, learners completed their circle maps describing themselves. We will turn their circle map into a piece of writing all about them next! Learners also worked in partners to illustrate examples of our Learner Attitudes.
We kicked off our first inquiry unit, How We Express Ourselves today! We read the book, "Not a Box" and discussed how the main character showed his creativity and used his imagination. Learners began planning their own design for their not a box and set up their Inquiry Journal.
Learners have enjoyed sharing their "All About Me" bags this week! We will finish sharing tomorrow!
As a class we came up with our Essential Agreements. Be positive, follow directions the first time, keep your hands and feet to yourself, use kind words, and be a good listener are the Essential Agreements we decided on! Each learner signed our Essential Agreements after we decided on our favorites. We also got to meet our new librarian, Mrs. Hunt this afternoon and she read a story to end our day!
Today was the 2nd day of 2nd grade and we had a great time!! Today learners decorated their Reader's Response journal to show everything they love about reading! We discussed how to pick a good fit book and practiced independently reading!
Today we learned about remaining safe, which represents the "R" in our Pinkerton Pride. Learners worked in partners to create examples and non examples of ways to remain safe at school. They came up with some great ideas!
In math, learners discussed that every number has value. We read the book, "Zero" and represented the value of different numbers in partners.
We also read, "Rufus Goes to School" and learners identified which learner profiles Rufus showed throughout the book. Then, they chose a learner profile to illustrate and describe!
