Today learners worked on making predictions and connections while reading.
We also started learning about the digestive system. A cracker in a bag with Sprite simulates food breaking down in the stomach!
So many fun things have been going on in 2B! Here are some of the things we have been doing...
We collected data on weather for two weeks. We will take what we discovered about our Texas weather and share with a second grade class in Alaska. We have predicted that their data will look much different!
We also learned about shadows for Groundhog Day. We discovered that our shadow changes as time passes because the Earth is moving!
Previewing the book fair was a fun treat last week! We got to see all of the books and make a "wish list."
We had our second grade Chinese New Year parade last week! We learned all about the Chinese New Year when we researched holidays celebrated in different cultures, so it was a fun experience to celebrate as a grade level! We read stories about Chinese New Year, ate traditional snacks, created our own dragon and lion masks, and participated in a parade throughout the school.
Today, we celebrated the 100th day of school! I can't believe we have already had 100 days of second grade. We wrote about what we would do if we were 100, played 100th day of school math games and had a 100th day snack. Learners made groups of 10 to reach 100 items for snack.
