Learners have been doing a great job exploring the role of our national and local government in our Inquiry Unit - Who We Are. Our wonderful librarian has shared great resources with our class in order for our learners to read all about our government system. Learners have also been able to scan QR codes to read about our government on a variety of websites too!
In math, we are taking our knowledge of place value and applying what we know to round numbers! Learners are doing a great job rounding numbers to the one hundred thousands place and estimating to find the sum. Ask your learner why estimating is important and how they use estimation in their life! As we learn about estimating and rounding numbers we are continuing to practice writing numbers in standard, word, and expanded form!
One of my favorite things we are working on this week is our writing. Learners are working on writing about something special they did with a friend. We are working on expanding our writing, using circle maps, tree maps, and different colors to represent each paragraph. I am so impressed with how far their writing has come since the beginning of the year!
We have a few exciting things coming up soon! Keep sending in your Write - A - Check forms and picture money. Picture day and the start of the book fair will be on Monday.
